We can also fit the fiber arrays with spot size converters for accurate and convenient mode fielding matching with photonic integrated circuits (PICs).
Or, through high precision 3D microfabrication, we can print microlenses on the fibers that will collimate or focus the light, making the fiber arrays suitable for free space coupling.
